Youth Job Connection (YJC): Summer
YJC: Summer is designed to help young people between the ages of 15 to 18 who are facing challenging life situations. It provides them with pre-employment training and work opportunities that will help them make informed career and educational planning decisions as they embark on their careers. YJC: Summer helps participants to make informed educational and career planning decisions by providing:
- Opportunities to learn employment readiness skills for initial work experiences;
- Access to job placements;
- Career development resources to increase their knowledge of employment and career options and the job market;
- Education and work transition support to help plan for the future.
Components of YJC: Summer
- Client service planning and coordination: Intake, assessment, referrals, individualized employment service planning, monitoring, case management and mentoring
- Pre-employment services: 20-30 hours of training, a stipend is paid for hours of training
- Job matching, placement and incentives
- Education and work transition support
Eligibility criteria: 15 to 18 years of age at time of registration, Resident of Ontario, Eligible to work in Canada, High school students* intending to stay in or return to high school, or access post secondary education after the job placement.
